Ion exchange

LWT ENGINEERING offers ion exchange filters for removing total hardness and alkalinity from water, selective ion removal, demineralization of water.

Ion exchange is a reversible process of substitution between ions. If positively charged ions are exchanged then we talk about cationic exchange, if negatively charged - about anion exchange. The working fluid in this process is an ionite (ion exchange resin) which is a material that has basic or acidic radicals its structure.

The main types of filters:

  • Softeners (removal of total hardness).
  • H-cationization with starved regeneration (removal of total hardness and alkalinity).
  • H-OH filters (water demineralization).
  • Filters with selective resins (removal of nitrates, bromides, organics).

 The use of ion exchange:

  • Water treatment for steam and hot water boilers.
  • Water treatment for beer production.
  • Water treatment for CHP.
